Beat Samsung & Apple, OPPO Find X6 Pro Camera Tops the DxOMark Chart

Currently, OPPO Indonesia has opened pre-orders for its first official smartphone with a foldable display, the OPPO Find N2 Flip. But other countries are talking about the OPPO Find X6 Pro’s camera because of its state-of-the-art sensor. It now tops the list of testing company DxOMark.

OPPO smartphones are known for the quality of their cameras, from the OPPO Reno series, which incorporates a number of interesting portrait features, to the OPPO Find series, which collaborates with Hasselblad, one of the leading camera manufacturers, invented in 1841. Although Hasselblad did not directly co-invent the camera sensor with OPPO, they did contribute to the color adjustment.

The OPPO Find X6 Pro’s own camera brings significant improvements over the previous generation Find X5 Pro. After its absence on the Find X2 Pro, OPPO has finally brought back the periscope zoom sensor. With this sensor, OPPO’s flagship smartphone in 2023 is postulated to be the best at zooming in low light.

The firm DxOMark itself tests smartphone cameras with a fairly comprehensive method, where on the OPPO Find X6 Pro’s camera review page, it is analyzed in detail by sections starting with standard photo capture, portrait mode, zoom and video. Overall, the OPPO Find X6 Pro’s camera scored the highest with 153 points. It beat the Honor Magic5 Pro & Huawei Mate 50 Pro by 2-3 positions, and the Google Pixel 7 Pro in fourth place.

For the record, the iPhone 14 Pro Max came in sixth with a score of 146. The reason why DxOMark named the OPPO Find X6 Pro’s camera as the best at the moment is the best image detail of all the sensors it sports. Videos are also claimed to be quite sharp with optimal stabilization.

Portrait quality also scored quite high. However, DxOMark still gave some special marks. The use of a 1-inch main sensor in the OPPO Find X6 Pro’s camera makes the focal range limited, so there must be distance adjustments when shooting a large number of subjects (group). Also, exposure determination remains inconsistent at times.

Unfortunately, the OPPO Find X6 Pro is not released globally. It is only available in a few countries, including its home country. So if the folks at Gizmo are really tempted by the camera performance of the OPPO Find X6 Pro, they must be willing to buy it from overseas with additional entry tax costs.

Advantages of OPPO Find X6 Pro Camera

So what makes the quality of the OPPO Find X6 Pro camera? As mentioned above, the 1-inch main sensor in this smartphone uses Sony IMX989, the same as the Xiaomi 13 Pro and vivo X90 Pro, which also seems to be officially absent. While the ultra wide-angle sensor itself uses the 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890, a sensor that other flagships also use as the main sensor.

Then there is a periscope sensor that also uses the same Sony IMX890 with a very large aperture at f/2.6, it has a focal length of 65mm to provide portrait distance like a professional camera. Through Hasselblad’s special portrait mode, users can simulate the capture of the Hasselblad XCD30 (30mm f/3.5) and XCD80 (80mm f/1.9) cameras.

Thanks to the OPPO Find X6 Pro’s superior telephoto camera sensor, the quality of the 6x hybrid zoom is claimed to be optical. And in 4K video recording mode, 3x and 6x zoom options are also given with the promise of remaining high quality. I wish this one was officially available in Indonesia.
